BROWNBACK CONGRATULATES KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY FOR PRESTIGIOUS GRANT

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Sam Brownback today applauded Kansas State University for receiving a Nuclear Energy University Program grant from the Department of Energy. Kansas State was one of only 29 universities nationwide to receive the award.

"I am very pleased to announce that my alma mater Kansas State was selected from such tough competition to receive this prestigious award," said Brownback. "As we continue to pursue clean, sustainable energy it is essential that our research universities have the necessary resources to continue developing the most promising form of baseload energy: nuclear energy."

The Nuclear University Program grant will help fund programs at Kansas State for the study and development of reactor backup power supply, neutron survey meter, replacement control rod, and dosimetry equipment.
