PROTECTION AGAINST FRAUD & INVASION OF PRIVACY

Criminals have found ingenious ways of defrauding consumers, especially in the new cyber age. I will continue to fight against internet fraud, telemarketing fraud, identity theft, and mortgage scams. In each of these kinds of fraud, there is also the threat of your privacy being invaded. Congress has taken strong steps recently to ensure that Kansans are able to utilize emerging technologies without threats to their privacy. In addition, recent corporate malfeasances by some of the largest corporations, such as the bankruptcy of Enron, also highlight serious problems with corporate fraud and misrepresentation, especially as they relate to pension and retirement plans.
